About Me

My photo
I LOVE to design and to paint whimsical items that will put a smile on your face. Each day I share my simple life with you as I try to encourage, to inspire and sometimes JUST to make you smile as I recount my life growing up on a dairy farm! I've never had many material items in my life, BUT I have been blessed beyond words with love and encouragement from WONDERFUL Parents who instilled in me WHAT was important. I have had EVERYTHING that I needed and WAY too much of what I wanted. I am slowly learning to be a better person each day through my interactions with my friends on Facebook. Some day I hope to be as good as people seem to THINK I am! I am BLESSED! Welcome to my little corner of the world...Please stop by and visit often!

Day 2 of the Art Challenge, Sunday, January 25, 2015

This is DAY 2 of my ART CHALLENGE and is another example of my being late to the game…LOL…

I LOVED this pattern the moment I saw it...it is painted on a very old cheese box

I have decided that THIS is the year that I will learn to paint primitives…YES, I KNOW that sounds silly, BUT when I attempt to paint them on my own, They all turn out to be BRIGHT HAPPY COLORS…My friend laughs at me and says for ME to try to step over to the DARK SIDE is a very scary thing…

I started this on the last day of 2014 and FINISHED it on the FIRST day of 2015...We all need an angel watching over us

WELL, MAYBE, but I think I have done pretty well, but then HOW can someone FAIL when they paint a Terrye French design?  While I might be late at learning this style, I am RIGHT on TIME with my appreciation of these creations and for my friends who paint them so beautifully…

I will LEARN that it is OK for things NOT to be in proper perspectives, because THAT is part of the charm and I will LEARN that it is ok for my saltbox houses to be a bit crooked…sigh…

I seem to be painting ANGELS so far this year...LOL..I LOVE the music at the bottom and YES, it is Hark The Herald Angels Sing... ;)

I have shown you 3 Terrye French designs that I enjoyed painting and can’t wait to paint MORE…

One of my FAVORITE PRIMITIVE PAINTERS is Jan Young of RaggedyJan...please go to ETSY and find her...she is AMAZING...be sure to scroll through her SOLD items to see how wonderful her painting is!!

I HOPE that YOU will try new things this year...step out of your comfort zone, but WHATEVER you do, do it with a GRATEFUL HEART...Blessings to YOU...~charlotte♥

  1. Wonderful work. I too am just recently coming to appreciate primitive style. Dance of the Angels is very sweet.

  2. Good Morning Charlotte, I think that your work is wonderful. Saltbox primitives would not have that whimsy if they were tall and straight. A little crook here and a little crook there is what gives them the charm they need to be perfect. You said that the first one was painted on an old cheese box. I remember when I was a kid I kept my crayons in a wooden box that Velveeta cheese came in. I miss those wooden boxes and crates. I guess that is why so many of us love old pallets; they are the closest thing to the old crates and boxes:)
Thank you for following my blog. I appreciate your support and new friendship :)

  3. I absolutely LOVE these beautiful paintings that you created, Charlotte! It is great to see all of your work and see you working on different styles. I only came to enjoy painting primitive painting after seeing Terrye's work too. To me, it is so much fun and so relaxing to make her adorable designs. She will be sorely missed in the art world, but it warms my heart to see how many people will still enjoy her talents for many, many years. Have a wonderful day! :)
